Dr. Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles, has been appointed Chancellor of the University of Seychelles (UniSey), the President’s Office announced. This appointment strengthens the partnership between the government and the University and demonstrates the commitment to supporting higher education, research, and innovation for the country’s development.

A physician by training and former Secretary of State for Social Affairs, Dr. Herminie also served as Speaker of the Seychelles National Assembly. His experience in governance and human development makes him an ideal choice for this role, which aims to ensure the stability and sound management of the University.

As Chancellor, he will serve as the University’s Chief of Staff and will support UniSey in its academic expansion, the strengthening of its programs, and the development of its research capacity.
