Tony Verheijen is appointed World Bank Resident Representative in Togo

Tony Verheijen has been appointed World Bank Resident Representative in Togo, the Group announced on February 1. In this role, he will coordinate the activities of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD and IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), as part of an approach to unify the leadership of all World Bank Group entities in member countries.

A Dutch national, Verheijen has over 20 years of experience with the World Bank. He has held several positions in Africa, Asia, and Europe, including Resident Representative in Tunisia and Serbia, and Country Director in Afghanistan and Côte d’Ivoire. This experience has given him extensive expertise in implementing development projects, mobilizing private financing, and strengthening governance.
