Nathan Belete takes up his post at the World Bank for Africa

Nathan Belete has been appointed World Bank Regional Programs Director for Africa. He is now based in Nairobi, Kenya, where he will oversee all regional programs across the continent.

In this role, he will be responsible for strengthening cooperation among African countries, supporting development policies, and promoting regional integration. He will also work with governments, regional organizations, and development partners to implement projects in several key sectors.

Prior to this appointment, Nathan Belete was the World Bank Division Director for Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, where he managed a significant project portfolio of over $17 billion. He also served as Country Director for several West African countries, including Senegal, Mauritania, The Gambia, Cabo Verde, and Guinea-Bissau.

Earlier in his career, Belete worked in agriculture and rural development with World Vision and UNICEF. These experiences allowed him to strengthen his expertise on development and social impact issues.
