Launch of the First Artificial Intelligence Forum
The first edition of the Artificial Intelligence Forum in the Comoros was held on Tuesday, March 31st at the Retaj Hotel, focusing on the theme of digital inclusion.
Hosted by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in charge of Digital Affairs, the event brought together numerous stakeholders: public officials, experts, entrepreneurs, and young enthusiasts.
At the opening, the Director General of the National Agency for Digital Development (ANADEN) set the tone. He expressed the Comoros’ commitment to not being left behind in the digital revolution. According to him, “the development of digital solutions adapted to local realities is a priority for modernizing the administration, supporting businesses, and improving services for citizens.”
The discussions quickly highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in the country’s development. AI expert Naoufad Saandi emphasized a crucial point: these technologies must be accessible to everyone. He stressed the need to train young people, raise public awareness, and create simple tools capable of meeting real-world needs.
A roundtable discussion provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives on the impact of AI on the Comorian economy. Participants addressed several challenges, including a lack of infrastructure, technical skills, and a regulatory framework. However, they also highlighted the opportunities, particularly in the trade and service sectors.
