Health: an open MRI to enhance medical diagnosis

A New Era for Healthcare in Seychelles

The Seychelles’ first open MRI scanner has arrived at Victoria Health Clinic in the Anse Étoile district. The inauguration, led by the President of the Republic, Dr. Patrick Herminie, marks a significant moment for the country.

This new medical imaging technology allows patients to undergo examinations in a more comfortable setting, without the feeling of confinement often experienced in traditional MRI scanners.

The Head of State cut the ribbon and unveiled a commemorative plaque before an audience that included the Minister of Health, Dr. Marvin Fanny, the Commissioner of Public Health, Dr. Jude Gedeon, and numerous professionals from the sector. The event highlights the collaboration between Victoria Health Clinic, led by Daniella Payet, and the Nivaran Group, a recognized partner in specialized medical services in India and Africa.

In his speech, Herminie congratulated the clinic on its initiative. According to him, the open MRI represents a concrete step forward in access to care, improves diagnostic capabilities, and reduces the pressure on public hospitals. “When private institutions invest in modern equipment, the entire country benefits,” he emphasized, calling for more partnerships of this kind.

Dr. Himanshu Gupta, Medical Director of the Nivaran Group, welcomed this fruitful collaboration. He explained that the installation of this MRI demonstrates the group’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare to the people of Seychelles.

For her part, Daniella Payet reiterated the clinic’s commitment to keeping pace with innovation and strengthening the quality of its services. “The new facility will allow patients to benefit from rapid, accurate, and accessible diagnoses,” she added.

This inauguration demonstrates how the private sector is actively contributing to transforming the country’s healthcare landscape. By focusing on technology and cooperation, healthcare stakeholders are paving the way for a more efficient and humane future for all Seychellois.
