Ensuring a more stable and reliable power supply

Faced with persistent electricity supply difficulties in the Diana region, Jirama has deployed new generators in Antsiranana.

This initiative aims to improve service quality and reduce the power outages that regularly affect households, businesses, and companies in the city.

According to officials at the national water and electricity company, this new equipment will bolster the local power plant’s energy production capacity. Its commissioning will increase the available power on the grid and allow for a more effective response to growing electricity demand, particularly during peak consumption periods.

For several months, residents of Antsiranana have been experiencing frequent power outages due to insufficient production and technical constraints encountered by some existing installations. This situation has impacted the region’s economic activities, particularly in the tourism, trade, and service sectors.

The arrival of these generators is part of the efforts undertaken by Jirama and the public authorities to modernize the country’s energy infrastructure. The goal is to guarantee a more stable and reliable electricity supply, while supporting local economic development.

Company officials also indicate that additional work is planned to ensure the optimal integration of these new units into the distribution network. Maintenance and reinforcement of existing equipment will also be carried out to sustainably improve the performance of the electrical system in the capital of the Diana region.
