Renewed partnership between the University of Mascareignes and the University of Limoges

Strengthening research projects between the two universities

The University of Mascareignes (UdM) has reaffirmed its collaboration with the University of Limoges (France) through a renewed partnership. This significant development was formalized on Thursday, April 18, 2024, during a ceremony at the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, Science, and Technology in Phoenix. The signing event marked the renewal of the Framework Partnership Agreement between the two esteemed institutions.

Minister Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun graced the ceremony, alongside Isabelle Klock-Fontanille, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of UdM and President of the University of Limoges, and Muriel Piquet-Viaux, Director of the French Institute of Mauritius (IFM) and representative of the French Embassy in Mauritius. The University of Limoges brings its expertise across multiple domains, including pedagogy, research, governance, international mobility, and administration, in alignment with the LMD (Licence-Master-Doctorat) system.

The initial agreement with the University of Limoges was signed in 1998, and renewed several times until 2013, with the creation of the University of Mascareignes (UDM) in 2012. According to Isabelle Klock-Fontanille, « the Université de Limoges has an exceptional partnership with the Université des Mascareignes ». This is reflected in student exchanges between the two establishments.

Most recently, the first UdM students were authorized to enroll in the third year of the École d’ingénieurs de Limoges. Isabelle Klock-Fontanille adds: « We also attach great importance to collaboration in research. This is why the UNLIMA (Universités Limoges Mascareignes) program was set up, to support research projects involving researchers from both partner universities ».
