Strategic Exchanges in Moscow
Several areas of collaboration were discussed during the official meeting between the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, and the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
The meeting was marked by a warm welcome from the Russian President, who congratulated his counterpart on his recent electoral victory. President Herminie, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and emphasized that this visit aims to strengthen relations between the two countries.
Discussions focused on several key sectors, including fisheries, agriculture, food security, tourism, trade, energy, transportation, and sports. Fisheries were given particular emphasis due to their importance to the Seychelles economy and the need to develop sustainable management of this resource.
In the area of tourism, both sides discussed the significant presence of Russian visitors to Seychelles and their desire to strengthen this cooperation. The establishment of year-round direct flights between the two countries was also discussed to facilitate trade and travel.
Energy cooperation was also addressed, with a particular focus on the development of renewable energies, especially solar power, with the aim of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering energy costs.
Discussions also covered education, health, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. In the sports sector, both countries wish to strengthen their collaboration through the training of athletes and coaches.
