Agreements for the Development of Seychelles
Several development and economic cooperation projects marked the visit of the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, to Dubai.
These high-level meetings with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates strengthened an already solid partnership focused on the country’s development and improving the living conditions of its population.
Among the key outcomes, several infrastructure projects will continue in Seychelles with the support of the United Arab Emirates. These include the construction of four desalination plants to improve access to drinking water, the development of the Anse Royale sports complex to encourage community activities, and a housing project in Grand Anse Mahé to meet the growing need for housing. The Emirati authorities confirmed their commitment to supporting these initiatives.
The two sides also discussed energy-related issues. A draft bilateral agreement is being prepared to allow Seychelles to directly benefit from hydrocarbon supplies from the United Arab Emirates. Official discussions are expected to begin in the coming weeks. The objective is to strengthen the country’s energy security and stabilize costs in the long term.
In addition, President Herminie met with several Emirati officials to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation and investment. Discussions emphasized the importance of joint projects and support for local development. Particular attention was paid to initiatives aimed at improving quality of life and supporting economic growth.
