A Modern Headquarters to Keep pace with the evolution of media
A new headquarters for the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC), named SBC House, has been inaugurated in Union Vale.
The official ceremony was held in the presence of the President of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, who unveiled the building’s commemorative plaque. Several officials, guests, and staff members of the national broadcasting corporation also attended the event.
In his speech, Vice President Sébastien Pillay emphasized that this new headquarters meets the demands of a world where information circulates rapidly and the public is more connected than ever. He stated that this achievement will allow the SBC to better fulfill its mission of informing, educating, and serving the population.
He also indicated that the facility will now have more modern equipment, capable of strengthening audiovisual and digital production. New tools, particularly those related to podcasting, should allow for a diversification of the content offered to the public.
“This project illustrates the tangible results of cooperation between Seychelles and China. This inauguration also coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries,” he noted.
Construction began in April 2019. The project experienced several delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and technical constraints before being completed in 2025. The complex comprises three specialized blocks housing radio services, television studios, and administrative offices. The entire facility was designed with modern infrastructure to improve working conditions for staff and the quality of productions.
