Nafissatou Ouédraogo has been appointed dual international ambassador for microbiology, a distinction that highlights the career of this Burkinabè teacher-researcher from Daniel Ouezzin Coulibaly University (UDOC).
A specialist in biochemistry and microbiology, Dr. Ouédraogo is known for her work on enteric viruses, environmental virology, and alternatives to antimicrobials. A senior lecturer at UDOC, she has many years of experience in scientific research and student supervision.
In her new role, the scientist has been appointed Burkina Faso’s ambassador by the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), a leading international scientific organization. Her mission will be to strengthen ties between the ASM and the national scientific community. She will also be responsible for promoting microbiology, encouraging the training of young researchers, and fostering scientific collaborations.
In parallel, Nafissatou Ouédraogo was also appointed national representative of PhageAfrica, a pan-African organization specializing in bacteriophage research. In this role, she will work to unite Burkinabè researchers, promote phage therapy, and strengthen scientific exchange in Africa.
