Gomez Agou has been appointed Senior Fellow at the Harvard Center for International Development (CID) and Visiting Fellow at the Harvard Center for African Studies (CAS). Twelve years after his first stint at Harvard, the Ivorian economist is resuming his work on Africa’s economic challenges.
At Harvard, he will focus on public debt, economic sovereignty, and youth employment. Agou will also lead a series of seminars, including “The Politics and Economics of Sovereignty – Sovereignomics: African Perspectives in a Shared World,” which will combine economic and political analyses to shed light on African issues.
His career includes more than eleven years at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He recently completed his term as Resident Representative in Gabon and worked on several African countries, including Ghana and Tunisia.
Between 2007 and 2012, based in Abidjan, Gomez Agou contributed to Ivorian debt relief and reforms in the energy and cocoa sectors. His work also included collaborations with the World Bank, Harvard Business School, and the Harvard Kennedy School, further enhancing his international expertise.
