Facilities Complying with International Standards
To attract a million visitors in the coming years, Madagascar needs hotel facilities that meet international standards.
Madagascar hosts nearly 700 hotels, with 500 rated between 2 and 4 stars, offering about 15,000 beds nationwide for an average stay of 14 days. This capacity is sufficient to accommodate 500,000 international tourists alongside domestic travelers. While Antananarivo and Nosy Be boast an occupancy rate of 80 %, other regions of Madagascar see rates below 50 %.
Over the past thirty years, the needs of national and international visitors have evolved, necessitating improved standardization and quality in infrastructure and logistics. Additionally, services, logistics, furniture, and real estate have adapted to meet these changing demands.
National and international trade fairs also play a vital role. The communication surrounding these events helps promote Madagascar’s tourism sector, fostering training opportunities and attracting young investors.
