Tourism strategy: connectivity, marketing and pricing as priorities

Employment and Social Responsibility at the Heart of the Project

Connectivity, marketing, and pricing were the focus of discussions between the President of the Republic, Dr. Patrick Herminie, and the Deputy CEO of Club Med for EMEA, the Indian Ocean, and the French West Indies Resorts, Mr. Gino Andreetta.

The meeting, held on February 20th at Statehouse, centered on tourism development in the archipelago.

Mr. Andreetta reaffirmed Club Med’s commitment to the country.

He noted that the company, with 46 resorts and 40 offices worldwide, maintains a strong international presence. Club Med’s property in the Seychelles continues to perform well, with occupancy rates exceeding 70%.

The Deputy CEO also highlighted the collaboration with the Minister of Tourism and her team to promote the Seychelles as a premier destination. “This cooperation attracts visitors from all over the world and enhances the archipelago’s visibility on the international market,” he stated.

Club Med Seychelles employs approximately 400 local people, including 20 Seychellois who work at various resorts abroad. The company outsources certain services, such as catering and community services, creating opportunities for local residents and supporting social responsibility.

President Herminie also discussed with the delegation ways to attract even more visitors. The Head of State addressed visa-free access to Seychelles and considered how the government can better support stakeholders in the tourism sector.

Both parties agreed to continue working together to develop the tourism industry, a key pillar of the national economy. Discussions revealed that effective strategies in connectivity, marketing, and pricing can help attract more visitors and strengthen the sector.

The organization opened its doors on March 29, 2021, after delays related to the Covid-19 pandemic. The establishment has 295 rooms on Sainte-Anne Island and remains a major player in the tourism development of the Seychelles.
