Measurable Decisions for All Sectors
The Ivato Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Ivato) hosted the “Dialogue to Accelerate the Economy” on January 19, 2026, as part of the National Conference on Economic Recovery in Madagascar.
The event brought together the government, the private sector, and international partners to define a plan aimed at strengthening productivity and supporting the country’s economic development.
In his address, Colonel Randrianirina Michaël, President of the Refoundation of the Republic (PRRM), emphasized the importance of concrete and measurable decisions. “It is not enough to talk; we must act to produce real results in all sectors,” he declared. Prime Minister Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo reiterated that Madagascar must move away from a rent-seeking economic model, in place since colonization. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Raharison Hery, stressed that recovery depends on increasing national productivity.
The private sector, represented by Rabarijohn Francis, President of the Group of Enterprises of Madagascar (GEM), called for ambitious reforms. According to him, a stable economic environment relies on trust, a well-managed state, and a fair judicial system.
To revive the economy, the conference proposed several actions: supporting very small and medium-sized enterprises (VSMEs) and the informal sector, developing strategic sectors such as textiles, tourism, and agricultural processing, creating jobs, and investing in youth. The goal is to integrate the working population into the country’s production and development.
Participants have four days to propose concrete strategies and reliable monitoring mechanisms. The Head of State reiterated that it is essential to make the right choices and act differently to achieve the set objectives.
