Yemi Osinbajo has been appointed Senior Strategic Advisor to the CEO of Africa CDC, Dr. Jean Kaseya. This appointment comes as Africa CDC accelerates the implementation of the Agenda for Health Security and Sovereignty in Africa, which aims to strengthen local production of health products, sustainable financing, and the resilience of health systems.
From 2015 to 2023, Osinbajo served as Vice President of Nigeria. Prior to that, he was Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice for Lagos State. A respected law professor, he chaired Nigeria’s Economic Sovereignty Committee and led reforms to improve the business environment and support major social investments.
“Professor Osinbajo brings exceptional experience in governance, law, finance, and diplomacy,” said Dr. Jean Kaseya. In his new role, this official will advise Africa CDC on reforming the global health architecture, sovereign financing, local production of health products, and strategic partnerships. His role will strengthen the institution’s and the African Union’s position on the international stage.
