Minister of Transport Announces Ambitious 2026 Plan
The Annual Technical Plan (ATP 2026) outlines 29 key activities to be implemented, as Minister of Maritime and Air Transport, Hassane Alfeine Yasmine, reiterated during a two-day ministerial session at the Retaj Hotel.
The meeting brought together officials from airports, ports, maritime and air transport agencies, as well as the Deputy Secretary General of the Government, Mohamed Soilihi Djounaid. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the achievements of 2025 and define priorities for 2026. In her address, the Minister commended her teams for their significant accomplishments and emphasized the importance of cooperation, teamwork, and solidarity in achieving the established objectives.
Participants discussed several constraints and delays, notably the insufficient fuel supply to Mwali by Arab Contractor, which is responsible for the delays in the construction of the port of Bwangoma. The Secretary General of the Ministry, Djinti Ahamada, presented solutions to improve project coordination and planning.
Among the topics addressed were the concession of Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport (Ampsi), the rehabilitation of the ports of Moroni and Bwangoma, the inactivity of the national fishing school in Ndzuani, and the improvement of inter-island transport.
Furthermore, the Deputy Secretary General commended the progress made and announced that the government is working towards the certification of the secondary airports in Mwali and Ndzuani to strengthen connectivity. The Minister confirmed the modernization of Ampsi Airport within a year and presented several upcoming projects: the revitalization of the fishing and merchant marine schools, the purchase of a 250- to 350-seat transport vessel, and the expansion of regional flights with Royal Air.
