Contribution to the development of trade
Emirates, the renowned Gulf carrier, is set to increase its flight frequency between Antananarivo and Dubai by four flights per week. Commencing from September 3, the initial flights will include a stopover in the Seychelles.
The introduction of this new service will significantly enhance international connectivity for travelers. Furthermore, it is expected to catalyze tourism and business development in Madagascar, attracting over 70,000 visitors annually. Operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the flights are a result of negotiations held between President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar and Emirates Airline & Group executives in Dubai on February 14.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Commercial Director, emphasizes the significance of this new route: “Despite its immense potential, the Grand Island has historically lacked adequate air connectivity. We believe our service will strengthen the island’s ties and allow travelers to explore this hidden gem.” He also highlights the potential economic benefits, including trade development and new opportunities for the country.
In addition to passenger transportation, Emirates SkyCargo will facilitate the export of Malagasy goods to key markets such as the United Arab Emirates, China, and the USA. With a capacity of 22 tonnes per flight, including fresh produce like fruit and vegetables, vanilla, and textiles, Emirates SkyCargo aims to further support Madagascar’s economic growth.
