Tsarasaotra-Ivato : A New Bus Line for 2025
Public transportation in Madagascar is entering a new phase. The first electric and thermal buses were officially presented at the Ivato Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) on June 24, 2025.
President Andry Rajoelina announced that 300 buses will arrive. Some of these buses have already arrived in the country. “The objective is to improve transportation in the capital and surrounding areas,” he declared.
A new line will connect Tsarasaotra to Ivato. This route will create more than 200 jobs, including 48 driver positions. Several women will be recruited. In total, the project will generate 1,500 jobs. Training will also be offered. Guests were able to test drive the electric buses. The public was taken to the BANI (National Institute of National Defence). A new aircraft for the Malagasy Army was also unveiled there.
This aircraft will be used for rescue, surveillance, and training. This ceremony is part of the 65th anniversary of the return to independence. The Head of State and members of the government then visited the Antananarivo–Toamasina road construction site. This project is being led by the Egyptian company Samecrete. This initiative will facilitate travel and help the population improve their quality of life thanks to fast and efficient transportation.
