Strengthening company culture and belonging
On Friday, June 14, Air Mauritius celebrated its 57th anniversary. The airline, founded on June 14, 1967, has evolved significantly, progressing from the Piper Navajo to advanced aircraft such as the Airbus A350-900 XWB and A330-900neo.
The theme « We R AIR Mauritius » encapsulated this milestone, highlighted by CEO Charles Cartier’s address to 2000 employees. They united behind initiatives aimed at enhancing company culture and fostering a stronger sense of belonging. Expressing gratitude for their contributions, Cartier emphasized the pivotal role of corporate culture in the company’s success: « I thank you for your daily commitment to our company’s growth ».
However, amidst the celebratory atmosphere of Air Mauritius’ 57th anniversary, noticeable disparities emerged between management’s focus on pride and unity and some employees’ concerns regarding operational issues and controversial management decisions. This event underscores ongoing tensions that impact company cohesion and performance.
Addressing these issues demands Air Mauritius to balance celebrating achievements with transparent management practices. It’s crucial to respond appropriately to employee concerns, ensuring their commitment to revitalizing Air Mauritius and upholding company ideals remains steadfast.
