Mahoran talents on the march towards excellence

Second Edition of the Talents Prep Program

Sixty-eight students began their academic year at the University of Mayotte on September 3rd.

Among them, 65 are receiving scholarships awarded as part of the second intake of the Talents Prep Program, a program designed to prepare young people from the region for the most selective civil service competitive examinations.

Supported by the Ministry of Civil Service and Transformation, this program aims to strengthen the chances of Mayotte students accessing leadership positions in the administration. For the Rector’s Advisor for Vocational Training, this new intake illustrates the university’s commitment to promoting “equal opportunities and academic excellence.”

Launched in 2024, the Talents Prep Program has become a springboard for motivated candidates. Closely supervised, students progress within a demanding and rigorous environment, while benefiting from personalized support. The program relies on close collaboration between the University of Mayotte, the prefecture, and several partner institutions.

This year, three tracks are offered: teaching, justice, and general administration. Future teachers, clerks, inspectors, or territorial attachés follow a program combining academic preparation, practice for oral exams, and the consolidation of practical skills. “Succeeding in an entrance exam is not a matter of chance but of constant and disciplined work,” emphasizes Alberte Cabarrus, head of the program, who encourages students to persevere despite difficulties.

Each recipient receives a €4,000 grant, divided into two installments, to support their commitment throughout the year. Adherence to coursework and participation in the entrance exams are essential conditions for receiving this grant. Beyond financial support, young people are encouraged to develop human qualities such as patience, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to reason in real-life situations.
