Morocco has officially joined the Artemis Accords, marking a new step in its space cooperation strategy with the United States and the international community. By becoming the 64th signatory country, the Kingdom affirms its ambition to participate in the peaceful and sustainable exploration of space.

This signing took place on April 29, 2026, in Rabat, in the presence of Moroccan authorities and an American delegation, including representatives from the State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Morocco. For NASA, Morocco’s entry into this framework strengthens a network of partners committed to common rules for lunar, Martian, and broader space exploration.

A Framework for International Cooperation

The Artemis Accords were launched in 2020 by NASA and the U.S. State Department to establish common principles for civilian activities in space. They are based on several essential commitments: transparency, assistance to astronauts in distress, sharing of scientific data, prevention of interference, and protection of historical space mission sites.
