InnovEd 2025: Several schools honored

More than 30 secondary schools represented in Moka

Several schools were recognized at the closing ceremony of the InnovEd 2025 competition, held on February 19, 2026, in Moka.

The ceremony also marked the official launch of InnovEd 2026. The event brought together Ministers Aadil Ameer Meea and Mahend Gungapersad, the Chairman of the NPCC, as well as representatives from more than 30 secondary schools.

Among the winners, Quatre Bornes SSS was recognized for Cultural Heritage, Polytechnics Mauritius Ltd for Languages and Publishing and Performing Arts, and Le Bocage International School for Design. Ramsoondar Prayag SSS distinguished itself in Interactive Media, while Ananias Andre Le Chou College was commended for Visual Arts and Crafts.

From mid-April to June 2025, teams worked on projects focused on sustainable development, artificial intelligence, employability, and healthy lifestyles. After an initial selection by a jury of experts, the shortlisted groups participated in a CREAThon, followed by a final evaluation in early July, which brought together 34 teams.

Speakers emphasized the importance of innovation, STEM skills, and critical thinking to prepare the island’s economic future. These skills enable young people to stand out and meet the challenges of a competitive world.

A plan is underway to strengthen creativity and critical thinking from a young age. The goal is to foster ingenuity and problem-solving skills within schools.

The organizers are now encouraging all schools to participate in InnovEd 2026. “The competition offers a unique opportunity to develop talent, promote new ideas and prepare students to meet the challenges of tomorrow, while contributing to the country’s innovation and competitiveness” explained an official from the National Productivity and Competitiveness Council (NPCC).
