Cany Jobe has been appointed Director General of the Gambia Petroleum Commission. This decision comes as The Gambia accelerates its reforms and opens its offshore blocks to international investment to attract more exploration companies.
The new Director General has nearly 18 years of international experience in the oil and gas sector. A graduate engineer from the University of Western Australia and holding a Master’s degree in International Project Management from Glasgow Caledonian University, she has worked in Asia, Australia, West Africa, and the Americas. She previously held senior positions at China Petroleum Corporation, Venezuela’s PDVSA, and the ECOWAS Commission.
Prior to her appointment, Jobe was Director of Exploration and Production at The Gambia National Petroleum Corporation, where she contributed to upstream strategy and investor relations.
At the head of the Petroleum Commission, this official will be tasked with promoting the Gambian energy sector, attracting foreign investment and transforming the country’s oil and gas potential into concrete projects.
