Towards a redesigned and functional Seychelles airport
The assessment of current infrastructure was the focus of a visit to the country’s international airport by the President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, on July 31, 2025.
The Head of State was accompanied by Vice President Ahmed Afif, Minister of Transport Antony Derjacques, and several technicians and officials involved in the airport redevelopment project. The purpose of this visit was to conduct a detailed analysis of the current situation and identify areas for improvement to make the airport more functional, modern, and adapted to passenger needs.
The delegation visited several key areas, including check-in counters, arrival and departure lounges, duty-free shops, security, immigration, and car rental areas.
The President reiterated the importance of redesigning the airport in a simple, efficient, and sustainable manner, taking into account the country’s limited resources. He also emphasized that this modernization must improve visitor reception and provide better conditions for Seychelles travelers. Representatives of the Airport Authority, Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Finance, the Infrastructure Agency, and the engineers in charge of the project were also present during the visit.
The opportunity provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and technical comments, with a view to proposing concrete solutions to improve the airport’s infrastructure and services. Considered a priority by the government, “the redevelopment project aims to strengthen the tourism sector, improve the services offered at the airport, and create a more welcoming space upon passenger arrival,” added the Head of State.
