11 million USD to extend the Mtsangadju-Fumbuni road

The World Bank is financing the continuation of the work

A 5 billion Comorian franc (11 million USD) amendment was signed this Monday, June 2nd, to continue work on the road between Mtsangadju ya Dimani and Fumbuni, passing through Bandamadji la Domba.

The signing took place at the Roads Directorate, in the presence of the Director General of Equipment, the coordinator of the post-Kenneth program, and representatives of the Chinese company CGC. This project is part of the post-Kenneth recovery program, financed by the World Bank to the tune of 45 million USD, or nearly 20 billion Comorian francs.

The new contract covers 12 kilometers of road, in addition to the 7 kilometers already under rehabilitation. The total project therefore covers 19 kilometers. The work will be carried out by the Chinese company CGC, with a completion period of 19 months. A monitoring office will be responsible for overseeing the progress of the project.

For Said Abi Boina, Director General of Public Works, “this is a moment of great pride for the Comoros.” He emphasized that this road will improve traffic flow, facilitate trade, create jobs, and support the local economy. Boina also thanked the World Bank for its support and praised the quality of the work carried out by CGC. This road is considered strategic for the development of the region.
