Increasing mobile Internet performance in Madagascar
According to the barometers of fixed and mobile Internet connections in Madagascar, Internet speed in Madagascar is significantly higher than in other African countries such as Kenya or Egypt.
The nPerf score, which incorporates measurements of bandwidth, latency, web browsing, and video streaming performance, offers a comprehensive assessment of the user experience on the internet, independent of specific internet service providers. Over the year from April 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024, data from the nPerf application underscores the outstanding mobile internet performance in Madagascar. Among the 12,875 tests conducted in the country, two local ISPs have emerged as clear frontrunners.
Madagascar’s mobile internet throughput stands impressively at 38 Mb/s, positioning it as one of the top performers in connection speed across the Indian Ocean region. Furthermore, these ISPs demonstrate a commendable level of service quality, with browsing and streaming results reaching 28 % and 65 %, respectively. These figures highlight the reliability and strength of Madagascar’s internet networks.
According to the Digital Report 2024, Madagascar boasts a user base of 6.31 million users, marking a notable increase of 2.4 % or 149,000 additional users between January 2023 and January 2024.
