80 Homes Built in Seychelles
A grant of USD 8.7 million has been awarded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) to the Government of Seychelles to support the national social housing program.
This agreement was signed on the sidelines of the World Government Summit in Dubai, in the presence of President Dr. Patrick Herminie, who witnessed this important milestone for the country. The signing ceremony brought together Pierre Laporte, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment, representing the Government of Seychelles, and Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
This project aims to improve the living conditions of low-income families and address the growing demand for housing in Seychelles. It includes the construction of 80 homes spread across 10 blocks of eight units each, in the Orchid Village area. Among them, 32 two-room and 48 three-room apartments will be fully equipped with essential services: electricity, water, wastewater disposal, and secure common areas.
The project will also include the development of outdoor spaces to provide a pleasant, safe, and sustainable living environment. According to President Herminie, “This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring decent housing for all and improving the quality of life for the population.”
Following the signing, the Head of State met with Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan to discuss development cooperation and Seychelles’ role in the economic initiatives presented at the World Government Summit.
