€150,000 in support for the 22nd edition of Sakifo

A Festival Supported for Social Cohesion

The Réunion Region is supporting the 22nd edition of the Sakifo Festival with €150,000, a strong sign of its commitment to culture, sharing, and community.

This support, championed by Regional President Huguette Bello, underscores the importance of this event for social cohesion and the island’s appeal. The festival will take place from June 5 to 7, 2026, in the South of Réunion. The event will offer a diverse program blending international, regional, and local artists. The official press conference, held this Thursday, January 22, brought together partners, artists, and professionals to present the highlights of this edition.

For Jean-Bernard Maratchia, Regional Councillor, Sakifo goes beyond the scope of a simple festival. “Since its inception, the festival has successfully showcased Réunion far beyond our borders.” This event has allowed thousands of local, national, and international artists to meet. “We support Sakifo every year so that it continues to uphold these values,” he explained.

He also emphasized the event’s economic importance. Sakifo represents a valuable but fragile economic microcosm that must be protected. The Region therefore supports the organizers in maintaining an affordable pricing policy, allowing everyone to enjoy the event despite a challenging social context.

Since its inception, this event has been a place for encounters and exchanges between musicians and the public. It attracts not only locals from Réunion but also visitors from mainland France and abroad, strengthening the island’s international profile.
