Comorian students in the final of the “My Idea, My Business” competition

“Mime” rewards SolarTech Ai for its energy-efficient project

On April 11, 2025, the finals of the fourth edition of the “My Idea, My Business” (Mime) competition took place at the School of Medicine and Public Health (EMSP) in the Comoros.

This competition, organized by the Agence universitaire de la francophonie (AUF), aims to encourage African students to use artificial intelligence to address the challenges of sustainable development.

Eight student teams from the University of the Comoros presented their projects to a jury, including experts such as Youssouf Abdoul-Madjid, Director of Comor’Lab, and Fouad Goulam, former Commissioner General for Planning. The projects included initiatives in the fields of agriculture, health, technology, and energy.

The winning team, *SolarTech Ai*, proposed a project to address the current energy crisis. The project uses artificial intelligence to reduce electricity bills, improve thermal comfort, and offer an environmentally friendly energy solution. Comprised of two civil engineering students and one computer engineering student, the SolarTech Ai team impressed the jury with the relevance and originality of their idea.

With this victory, the team will participate in the inter-regional finals of the competition, which will take place in Casablanca, Morocco, from May 27 to 31, 2025. In addition to recognition, the top three teams in the competition will receive prizes in the form of funding or support to help them develop their projects.
