A National Delegation Listens to the Needs of the Region
The Action Logement Group reaffirmed its role as an economic buffer in a sector under pressure during a visit to Réunion Island from December 21 to 23.
Accompanying the Réunion Social Housing Company (SHLMR), the national delegation came to strengthen its ties with local stakeholders and gain a better understanding of the region’s needs.
The mission was led by Frédéric Carré, President of the group, and included several members of management. “The objective was to facilitate access to housing for employees, support professional mobility, and assist with housing renovation, despite the pressures on costs and investments in the sector,” announced the President.
During these three days, the representatives met with elected officials, building professionals, and local stakeholders. Among the notable visits, the Oasis Campus in Le Port exemplifies the diversity of housing solutions offered: social housing, intermediate rental housing, and homeownership are combined to meet the specific needs of the population.
Innovation was also a central theme. The delegation visited LABiMAC at the University of Reunion Island, a laboratory that develops materials and processes adapted to the island context. “This project demonstrates Action Logement’s commitment to supporting sustainable construction and the ecological transition in the sector,” he added.
The rehabilitation of existing housing was also highlighted. The delegations visited Les Arcades in Saint-Paul and Bouvet in Saint-Denis. These projects aim to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of homes while preserving social cohesion within the neighborhoods.
A highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the Bernica residence in Saint-Paul, attended by elected officials, tenant associations, and residents. This operation shows how it is possible to offer affordable, high-quality housing that is well integrated into its environment.
