A national development strategy to be turned into reality
The President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan has officially launched the National Development Strategy 2024-2028 (NDS). The launch took place on April 5, 2024 at the State House.
The President urged all Seychellois to unite to make this document a reality. “This strategy is the culmination of months of dedication, collaboration and tireless vision. It is a testament to our collective commitment to shape a future of progress, prosperity and opportunity for all,” he said. He emphasized that the strategy “is built on the foundation of sustainable development – development that is not only environmentally sound, but also economically viable and socially equitable.
The strategy focuses on six priority areas to shape the socio-economic landscape of Seychelles. The NDS 2024-2028 is anchored on six priority areas, namely: a modern public service, a transformative economic agenda, an effective health nation, an education system that meets the needs of the future, the promotion of law and order, and environmental sustainability and resilience to climate change.
The document was prepared and formulated by the National Planning Division of the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade. In his speech, Minister Naadir Hassan expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff of the Department, noting that it had taken three years to finalize the document, which had involved a great deal of discussion, consultation and research.
The NDS 2024-2028 will serve as a model for the next phase of the country’s development, but its successful implementation depends on everyone.
