Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the public procurement system
The evaluation of Madagascar’s public procurement system has been officially launched according to the Maps II methodology, with a mission from the African Development Bank currently present for this occasion. This process is expected to lead to Maps certification for Madagascar.
This crucial task involves examining the strengths and weaknesses of Madagascar’s public procurement system. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Rindra Hasimbelo Rabarinirinarison, stated that the objective is to improve its efficiency and effectiveness while enhancing the integrity and transparency of public spending.
The implementation of Maps I in 2003-2004 enabled the evaluation and improvement of public procurement systems. Maps are a common tool for analyzing data concerning the key elements of a specific system.
The Malagasy government, with the assistance of the African Development Bank (AfDB), is committed to evaluating the public procurement system as part of the reform process. Following the workshop’s launch yesterday, the international Maps consultant is offering a series of training sessions to the relevant stakeholders.
