Assessment of employer ad-hoc Committees’ work
On Thursday, May 30, 2024, the Executive Council of the Groupement des Entreprises de Madagascar (GEM) convened both in person and via video conference at the organization’s headquarters in Ambohijatovo.
During the meeting, several key topics were addressed. Firstly, a comprehensive report on recent engagements between the President of the GEM and various institutions was presented. These engagements included discussions with entities such as the Madagascar Directorate General of Taxes (DGI), the Directorate of Large Enterprises, the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM), the African Development Bank Group (BAD), and the Delegation of the European Union to Madagascar.
Following this, the outcomes of the initial meeting between the Presidency of the Republic of Madagascar and the GEM, held on May 3, 2024, were outlined. Additionally, strategic dialogues took place on vital issues such as energy, involving discussions with the Minister of Energy and Hydrocarbons, as well as the new CEO of Jirama.
In the realm of transportation, a report was compiled regarding discussions with the Minister of Transport and Meteorology, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, and the national airline, Air Madagascar. Lastly, the Executive Council reviewed the progress of the ad-hoc committees, which are tasked with addressing the GEM’s priority issues for 2024. These priorities include state debt owed to private sector companies and the revision of the Tax Procedures Code.
