The Region Strengthens Its Economic Projects
The 50th General Assembly of the Association for the Industrial Development of Reunion Island (ADIR) took place on October 17, with the participation of Huguette Bello, President of the Reunion Island Region.
Founded in 1975 under the joint patronage of the Prefecture and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ADIR has been defending and promoting local industries for half a century, actively contributing to the island’s economic growth.
The association supports Reunion Island businesses in their projects, supports technological innovation, and encourages the diversification of productive activities. Its actions foster job creation and strengthen the economic vitality of Reunion Island.
The Region works closely with ADIR to develop a sustainable and inclusive industrial model. The partnership supports infrastructure modernization, vocational training, and the competitiveness of local businesses, while strengthening the island’s economic autonomy.
During her speech, Huguette Bello emphasized the strategic importance of industry for Reunion Island. “We share the desire to foster as effectively as possible the natural partnership between the Region and the business world. Our island has long depended on services, tourism, and agriculture.”
Industry also plays a vital role. This sector is a lever for sustainable development and a driver of social cohesion. “Supporting industry in Reunion Island is a necessity,” she emphasized.
The General Assembly provided an opportunity to review past successes and plan future actions. ADIR plans to strengthen its initiatives in the energy transition, the circular economy, and innovation, key sectors for increasing the competitiveness of Reunion Island businesses in a changing global context.
