Introducing children and young people to financial education
The 12nd edition of Global Money Week (GMW) takes place from March 18 to 24, 2024. This world-class awareness campaign aims to introduce young people and children to responsible financial management.
GMW is initiated by Child Youth Finance International and receives support from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This annual financial education awareness campaign is celebrated worldwide. For this edition, Madagascar will host the official GMW opening ceremony at the Barea Mahamasina stadium on March 18, 2024. The event will be attended by various dignitaries, including the Secretary General of the Banking and Finance Supervision Commission, representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and financial institutions.
Beyond its entertaining elements, the ceremony seeks to impart habits that children can adopt for effective portfolio management. The ability to manage income is deemed crucial, emphasizing the necessity of early financial education. Parents are also encouraged to play a pivotal role in transmitting this knowledge. « Protect your money, secure your future” is the theme chosen for this edition of Global Money Week, focusing on young people. Andry Velomiadana Bearison Ramanampanoharana, Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, emphasizes, “Ensure you possess financial management skills and cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. Establish a budget, prioritize quality and price when making purchases, and make prudent financial decisions. These skills will benefit you throughout your life. »
