Common commitment to inclusive education
Improving school programs and including struggling students are at the heart of discussions between Mauritius and the United States. Mauritian Education Minister Mahendra Gungapersad and U.S. Ambassador Henry Jardine strengthened their cooperation during a meeting on February 3 at MITD House, Phoenix.
Discussions focused on several key priorities. On one hand, both parties talked about the development of educational content. On the other hand, they emphasized the need for better support for young people facing academic challenges.
The Mauritian Minister praised U.S. support in improving the teaching of mathematics. Simultaneously, he highlighted the importance of reading for young people and expressed his desire to expand this cooperation to other disciplines.
For his part, Henry Jardine emphasized the importance of learning English. According to him, better proficiency in this language opens new opportunities for students. Furthermore, the ambassador announced the upcoming arrival of special education experts to strengthen support for students with special needs.
Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to building more inclusive education. This collaboration aims to promote equal opportunities and improve the quality of education through tailored and innovative initiatives.
