Increase trade between Madagascar and Canada
The Economic and Trade Mission to Canada (MECC 2024), launched by the Canada-Madagascar Chamber of Commerce and Cooperation (CanCham Madagascar) on April 30, 2024, aims to introduce Malagasy businesses to the Canadian market.
In collaboration with the Trade Foreign Office (TFO) Canada and the Economic Transformation Project for Inclusive Growth funded by the World Bank, this initiative seeks to stimulate trade between Madagascar and Canada. The focus is on promoting Canadian exports and investments in Madagascar while showcasing Malagasy products and services, particularly under the « Vita Malagasy » label.
As part of MECC 2024, sixteen Malagasy companies, with the support of ministries including Industry, Trade (MIC), Agriculture and Livestock (Minae), Foreign Affairs (MAE), and the Economic Development Board of Madagascar (EDBM), will participate in the Montreal International Food Fair (SIAL) from May 15 to 17.
The mission fosters networking opportunities among Malagasy businesses, the diaspora, and Canadian companies, with activities including B2B and B2C meetings, company visits, and discussions on various sectors such as crafts, agriculture, outsourcing, information and communication technologies, and support services for small producers and artisans.
