Economic actors working hand in hand for sustainable growth

The Comoros begins 2026 on a positive note. During the New Year’s greetings ceremony for President Azali Assoumani, political and economic leaders praised the progress made in 2025.

The country recorded an increase in GDP to $1,800 per capita and a growth rate of 3.8%, figures that demonstrate a recovering economy and an improved standard of living. According to the Minister of Information, Fatima Ahamada, these results prove that the government’s efforts are bearing fruit. She described the year as marked by stability, transparency, and a commitment to strengthening economic and social development.

Azali Assoumani also congratulated public actors for their dedication. The Head of State emphasized the continuation of the Emerging Comoros Plan (PCE), which aims to make the country a modern and competitive economy by 2030.

The President cited several areas of progress: infrastructure development, education reform, energy improvements, and the fight against the high cost of living. He believes that the restored peace and stability allow for confident progress toward the established objectives. He urged elected officials and local leaders to remain close to the people and address their needs in order to translate growth into tangible development.

The Commissioner General for Planning, Najda Saïd Abdallah, noted that 2025 was a year of visible achievements, even though challenges remain. The public administration intends to strengthen its efforts to make projects even more effective and beneficial for citizens.

From the private sector perspective, the President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce, Chamsoudine Ahmed, praised the collaboration with the government, while emphasizing the need to overcome obstacles related to energy and infrastructure.

The President concluded by calling for unity and perseverance to maintain this momentum. With sustained growth and concrete projects, the Comoros is reaffirming its ambition to achieve emerging country status by 2030.
