Presentation of credentials by the new Chinese Ambassador

On March 20, 2024, the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Ji Ping, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Madagascar, at Iavoloha.

The arrival of H.E. Mr. Ji Ping in Madagascar signifies a shared dedication to furthering robust and mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation. The Chinese Ambassador emphasizes China’s keen interest in advancing projects in three key sectors aligned with the objectives of President Xi Jinping : agriculture, road infrastructure development, and energy.

China reaffirms its commitment to supporting Madagascar’s agriculture sector to attain food self-sufficiency, with a particular focus on capacity building and the establishment of production centers. Additionally, China expresses eagerness to assist Madagascar’s energy transition through initiatives such as the promotion of hydropower and solar farms. Discussions also encompassed the rehabilitation of the RN5 highway and the Tanamasoandro urban project.

In response, President Rajoelina expressed his aspiration to integrate Madagascar into the Silk Road, citing the advantages of its strategic geographic location bridging Asia and Africa. The Malagasy leader also confirmed his participation in the upcoming China-Africa Forum, underscoring the nation’s commitment to bolstering bilateral relations.
