Strengthening common values
A few days ago, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs represented the President of the Republic, the government, and the people of Madagascar at the celebration of Swiss National Day.
The Minister took this opportunity to extend his best wishes to Viola Amherd, President of the Swiss Confederation, as well as to the Swiss government and the people. He emphasized the shared values between the two countries, such as peace and the preservation of human rights. The Minister highlighted Switzerland’s tradition of neutrality and democracy, making it a model of success in sustainability.
He also praised Switzerland’s commitment to humanism and solidarity, exemplified by the creation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The ties between Switzerland and Madagascar, which began in 1961, have strengthened over the years, based on mutual respect and shared principles.
Madagascar appreciates the results of this cooperation, particularly in the sectors of health, education, and the environment. The Minister expressed a desire to enhance dialogue with Switzerland to foster various cooperation initiatives.
The representative of the Swiss Confederation in Madagascar, Rolf Stalder, also emphasized the importance of cooperation between his country and the Great Island.
