Chinese Spring Festival : Honoring Ambassador Lin Nan

Strengthening the China-Seychelles partnership

The Chinese Spring Festival 2024 marked a momentous occasion on January 5, 2024, as the Eden Bleu Hotel hosted celebrations in honor of Seychelles’ new Ambassador from China, Lin Nan.

This festive event, heralding the Year of the Dragon followed by the Year of the Rabbit, drew a distinguished crowd including President Wavel Ramkalawan, Vice President Ahmed Afif, Ministers, and members of the National Assembly, among others.

Ambassador Nan highlighted the significance of Spring Day, now an official UN holiday, and shared insights into Chinese culture, emphasizing the dragon as a symbol of good fortune and strength. « I extend my warmest wishes for a Happy New Year to our Seychellois friends, especially the Chinese community », remarked Ambassador Nan.

Focusing on bilateral relations, Ambassador Nan emphasized her mission to bolster friendship and practical cooperation between China and Seychelles. Over the past 48 years of diplomatic ties, Chinese medical teams have provided invaluable services to Seychelles, while UniSey’s Confucius Institute actively fosters Chinese language education and cultural exchanges.
