A Major Milestone for Animal Health
Madagascar’s first “University Veterinary Clinic” was inaugurated at the Ambatobe Veterinary School on April 25, 2026, coinciding with the celebration of World Veterinary Day.
The ceremony was held under the theme “Veterinarians: Guardians of Food Security and Health.” The event is part of the “One Health” concept, which emphasizes the interconnectedness of animal health, human health, and the environment.
The Special Advisor for National Reform, General Marcellin Zafitasondry Ranoelson, represented the President of the Republic at the event. He highlighted the importance of these professionals’ work in society. According to him, these experts make a significant contribution to animal health, disease prevention, and agricultural improvement.
This day also marked the official graduation of the new veterinary students. These young professionals will now begin working in the field and contributing to the sector’s development.
In his address, General Marcellin congratulated the new graduates. “Human beings depend on other forms of life, such as animals and plants, to live and thrive,” he reminded them.
The official also expressed his hope that this new clinic would bring about concrete improvements at the national level. He thanked the Veterinary Association for the construction of this facility.
Finally, he encouraged the new specialists to put their knowledge into practice. “The agriculture and livestock sector remains vast in Madagascar and requires professionals capable of providing solutions and innovations on the ground,” he emphasized.
