Nigeria is launching the iDICE program, a major initiative to boost digital and creative startups across the country. This structured program offers training, grants, and investments to over 500 entrepreneurs, strengthening the African tech ecosystem.
Launch Background
The Nigerian federal government unveiled the iDICE Startup Bridge on March 23, 2026, under the umbrella of the broader $617.7 million Investment in Digital and Creative Enterprises (iDICE) program.
Funded by the African Development Bank, the French Development Agency, and the Islamic Development Bank, it is implemented by the Bank of Industry (BOI), which has already disbursed 43 billion naira to the creative sector by 2025.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, chairman of the steering committee, aims to create sustainable jobs for Nigerian youth (ages 15-35) and position the country as a continental tech hub.
The program has two components
Founders Lab: Open to early-stage ideas and prototypes, this 12-week program offers intensive training, mentorship, and business validation. The top 100 participants receive up to 10 million naira (approximately USD 7,200) in non-repayable grants.
Growth Lab: For post-MVP startups with traction, it offers USD 100,000 in equity investment, plus matching up to USD 125,000 and investor connections to scale up.
Expected Economic Impact
This bridge between potential and capital targets all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, fostering inclusion beyond hubs like Lagos.
With a target of 250 participants per cohort annually, iDICE strengthens the investment pipeline, following an initial deal through Ventures Platform in late 2025.
Applications for Founders Lab close on April 20, 2026, via idice.ng.
Ecosystem Outlook
iDICE addresses the thirst for early-stage capital in Nigeria, where startups often struggle to scale from idea to reality. Ultimately, it could lead to more local unicorns and stimulate innovation in the digital and creative sectors, aligned with the continent’s economic priorities.
For West African entrepreneurs, it represents an inspiring model of structured public support.
