The Region Focuses on Economic Development
Businesses, local authorities, and economic stakeholders gathered on September 11, 2025, at Expobat Saint-Paul for the “Nou lé local” trade show.
Organized by ADIR and the Territoires media outlet, the four-day event showcases Réunion Island products and expertise.
Huguette Bello, Regional President, inaugurated the show and signed an agrifood sector contract. CPME, Qualitropic, Ocapiat, Compost Citoyen Réunion, ADIR, and La Réunion Innovation are participating in this partnership. The contract is part of the Regional Plan for Economic Development, Innovation, and Internationalization (SRDEII) and aims to strengthen food sovereignty and security.
During her speech, the President emphasized that supporting local production and the processing of local products is a major objective. “The emergence of innovative sectors and the promotion of traditional crops are also priorities. Exports are developing within a framework of regional co-development,” she declared.
The circular economy and the preservation of natural resources are other essential areas. Access to healthy and affordable food for all complements this approach. The project boosts the attractiveness and competitiveness of Reunion Island’s agri-food sector.
Huguette Bello emphasized the importance of consuming locally. “In Reunion Island, let’s promote our unique products. Lychees, pineapples, and vanilla are among the most renowned in the world. Farmers work with dedication, courage, and talent. A Reunionese genius and intelligence are revealed in this work,” she added.
The “Nou lé local” trade fair provides a showcase for Reunion Island producers and entrepreneurs. It provides a unique setting for meetings, exchanges, and collaborations. Visitors discover authentic products, explore sustainable practices, and participate in the local economy.
