The Malagasy government simplifies procedures for project leaders
The Big Island wants to attract more investors and facilitate business creation. To this end, the country is relying on a One-Stop Shop (Guichet Unique) established within the EDBM (Economic Development Board of Madagascar).
This service brings together ten ministries to help entrepreneurs more easily obtain all the necessary information and authorizations. The goal is to make the business environment simpler and faster. This system was presented on July 28, 2025, during a roundtable on investment, held in Alarobia Antananarivo during “SADC Industrialization Week 2025.” Representatives from several SADC (Southern African Development Community) member countries were present.
The Minister of Industrialization and Trade (MIC), David RALAMBOFIRINGA, explained that investment is essential to developing industry. He discussed efforts already made in Madagascar, such as local product processing projects and the revision of the Investment Law, to reassure investors. The Minister also presented the role of the CNIM (National Council for the Industrialization of Madagascar), which brings together representatives from the government and the private sector.
This council oversees the implementation of the Pact for Industrial Planning, a program to advance industry over the long term. During the meeting, Nainanirina RAZAFINDRAZAKA, Director General of Industry, spoke of the importance of processing agricultural raw materials to produce everyday products. According to him, “This helps improve food security and reduce imports. But to succeed, the Big Island needs financial support.”
