Improvements to Facilitate Access to School in Anjiabe

A 4-meter footbridge and permanent stairs have been inaugurated in the Fokontany of Anjiabe, on the island of Nosy Komba.

These new infrastructures, built as part of the VOAMAMI program, Key 3, aim to improve the daily lives of residents, particularly students and teachers.

During the rainy season, travel often becomes difficult in this area. “Thanks to these new improvements, journeys to school will now be safer and more comfortable. This project demonstrates the program’s commitment not only to economic development but also to the social well-being of the population,” according to an official from the Ministry of Fisheries and the Blue Economy.

The inauguration took place in the presence of the Member of Parliament for Nosy Be, the Mayor of the Nosy Be Urban Commune, and officials from the Fisheries and Blue Economy District (CirPEB). All praised the project, which perfectly illustrates the solidarity and commitment of the local community.

The project’s funding comes from the third fund of the VOAMAMI program, a fund specifically created to support social and community initiatives. “This approach allows us to reinvest a portion of the profits from sustainable fishing in projects that directly benefit the local population,” he added.

For program officials, this inauguration is just the beginning. “We want to continue supporting the population through projects that address their real needs,” they explained. The organization aims to strengthen cohesion between fishermen and other community members, while promoting environmentally responsible practices.
