Angola will host the 17th USA-Africa Business Summit from June 22 to 27, 2025, in Luanda. This major event will bring together more than 1,500 to 3,000 participants, including African heads of state, senior US officials, business leaders, and investors from both continents. Organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) in partnership with the Angolan government, the summit is themed “Pathways to Prosperity” and coincides with the 50th anniversary of Angola’s independence.
Summit Objectives and Challenges
Strengthen economic and trade ties between Africa and the United States, with a focus on investments in strategic sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, energy, healthcare, information technology, creative industries, and finance.
To provide a platform for high-level dialogue, with plenary sessions, sectoral panels, country forums, B2B/B2G meetings, and exhibitions to foster partnerships and experience sharing.
To highlight Angolan projects, particularly in food security, agribusiness, digitalization, and infrastructure, to attract investment and diversify the country’s economy beyond the oil sector.
To facilitate access to US and international financing instruments to support the development of mechanized agriculture, infrastructure, and other key sectors.
Strategic Context
The organization of this summit in Luanda reflects Angola’s growing role as a major diplomatic and economic player in Africa, particularly in the Great Lakes region. The country seeks to establish itself as a hub for investment and innovation, while strengthening its partnerships with the United States in the face of international competition, particularly from China. The summit also takes place in the context of major regional projects, such as the Lobito Corridor, designed to facilitate the export of mineral resources to global markets.
Symbolic Dimension
Holding the summit in Luanda, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Angolan independence, underscores the country’s desire to further open up to foreign investment and play a leading role in the growth and economic stability of the African continent.
The 17th U.S.-Africa Business Summit in Luanda represents a strategic opportunity for Angola and the entire African continent to strengthen their partnership with the United States, promote investment and innovation, and assert themselves on the global economic stage.
