Laura Bill appointed UNICEF Representative in Morocco

Laura Bill, the new UNICEF Representative in Morocco, presented her letter of appointment to Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, on April 29, 2025.

With over twenty years of experience, Laura Bill has led development and emergency programs in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. Before arriving in Morocco, the diplomat served as Deputy Special Representative in Palestine, responsible for advocacy and humanitarian coordination for children.

She joined UNICEF in 2006 in Sri Lanka, followed by a mission as a regional emergency specialist in Asia-Pacific and then in South Asia. From 2014 to 2021, she led several UNICEF offices, including in Mauritania and Ukraine.

A Swiss and Venezuelan national, Laura Bill holds a degree in Sinology from the University of Geneva and a master’s degree in Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid from the University of Deusto. The new Representative affirms her commitment to strengthening the partnership between the Kingdom and UNICEF, particularly by supporting South-South cooperation.
