André Wameso Nkwaloki was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Congo (BCC) by presidential order published on July 23, 2025, succeeding Malangu Kabedi Mbuyi, who held this position for nearly four years.
The 50-year-old expert has extensive experience in international finance and public management. Since 2021, the new official has served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Head of State, in charge of economic and financial matters. Between 2019 and 2021, this specialist served as Ambassador-at-Large for President Félix Tshisekedi.
Before entering politics, this economist acquired over 25 years of experience in finance, particularly in Europe, where he held several management positions within the Belgian banking group Dexia. A graduate of the Catholic University of Louvain, the Chief Risk Officer of Rawbank, one of the leading Congolese banks, is ideally suited to lead the BCC. His primary mission will be to steer monetary policy, preserve financial stability, and strengthen institutional credibility, in a context marked by inflation and pressure on the Congolese franc.
